anybody else work in a hospital setting and have a difficult time putting on latex gloves due to arthritis?
If so do you have any tips on how to put them on, or an alternative. I can put them on, it just takes an extra minute or 2. Sterile surgical gloves are very hard to put on as well.

Many latex gloves are very difficult to don for most people without arthritis. I am sure arthritis amplifies the problem. There are a few things you can try to help improve the donning. Damp hands are the most difficult to don a glove over. Try drying your hands as best as possible before donning. Some people even use lotions or creams to improve lubricity before donning gloves. This is fine, but just make sure the lotion/cream ingredients are compatible with the glove material. Powdered latex gloves are rare due to the complications of powder, but they are still around because of their ease of donning compared to powderfree glove. If you are still having difficulty, try changing glove brands. Gloves are made powderfree by either being chlorinated or by using a polymer coating. Variations in these processes and materials significantly affect donning. Typically, a highly chlorinated glove is very slippery and sometimes easier to don. Also, there are several polymer coated gloves on the market that are designed to improve donning. Some even have Aloe Vera for potential hand benefit. Those with hydrogel are also very good for improving donning. Other methods include trying a larger glove. If your applications allow, you might find a larger glove is easier to get into. Another great option is to first don a glove liner, such as a thin, knitted nylon or cotton glove. If you can sacrifice a bit of dexterity, this is a very comfortable solution that also improves comfort throughout the use of the glove. If you need some liners, try www.SafetyClearance.com Good luck!
